Why did Vail sell Arapahoe Basin?
Vail Resorts once owned Arapahoe Basin for a hot minute. But the U.S. Department of Justice in 1997 forced Vail Resorts to sell the ski area near the summit of Loveland Pass, citing antitrust issues after Vail acquired Ralston Resorts’ Summit County ski areas: Breckenridge, Keystone and A-Basin.

Is Arapahoe Basin good for beginner skiers?
Surprisingly considering there is limited beginner terrain, Arapahoe Basin is an OK place to learn to ski or snowboard. The Molly Hogan double and a couple of magic carpets provide a great novice area at the base of the mountain.
Is Arapahoe Basin good for kids?
While Arapahoe Basin is better known for its expert ski areas and expansive backcountry, they also have multiple children’s programs that are excellent.
Is Arapahoe Basin crowded?
Arapahoe Basin doesn’t usually get too crowded, though like any resort it has times that are busier than others. These are typically over the Christmas / New Year’s holiday, the US federal holiday weekends in mid-January and mid-February, and spring break in March.
