What is NIO socket?
A Java NIO SocketChannel is a channel that is connected to a TCP network socket. It is Java NIO’s equivalent of Java Networking’s Sockets. There are two ways a SocketChannel can be created: You open a SocketChannel and connect to a server somewhere on the internet.
What is the use of NIO in Java?
Java NIO enables you to do non-blocking IO. For instance, a thread can ask a channel to read data into a buffer. While the channel reads data into the buffer, the thread can do something else. Once data is read into the buffer, the thread can then continue processing it.
How does NIO Selector work?
A selector provides a mechanism for monitoring one or more NIO channels and recognizing when one or more become available for data transfer. This way, a single thread can be used for managing multiple channels, and thus multiple network connections.
What is selector in Java NIO?
In Java NIO the selector is a multiplexor of selectable channels, which is used as a special type of channel that can be put into non-blocking mode. It can examine one or more NIO Channel’s and determines which channel is ready for communication i.e. reading or writing.
How does Tomcat NIO work?
The NIO connector (non-blocking I/O) is a bit more complicated. It uses the java NIO library and multiplexes between requests. It has two thread pools – one holds the the poller threads, which handle all incoming requests and push these requests to be handled by worker threads, held in another pool.
What are Nio threads?
nio is a non-blocking API for socket connections, which means you are not tight to the number of threads available. With this library, one thread can handle multiple connections at once.
What is NIO Framework?
nio (NIO stands for non-blocking I/O) is a collection of Java programming language APIs that offer features for intensive I/O operations. It was introduced with the J2SE 1.4 release of Java by Sun Microsystems to complement an existing standard I/O. NIO was developed under the Java Community Process as JSR 51.
How do you create a selector in Java?
A selector may be created by invoking the open method of this class, which will use the system’s default selector provider to create a new selector. A selector may also be created by invoking the openSelector method of a custom selector provider. A selector remains open until it is closed via its close method.
What is Nio protocol?
Nio is just an option that allows you configuring the newer API to be used to process your connection at the broker site.
What is difference between AJP and HTTP?
ajp carries the same information as http but in a binary format. The request method – GET or POST – is reduced to a single byte, and each of the additional headers are reduced to 2 bytes – typically, that’s about a fifth of the size of the http packet. See ajp protocol specification for further internal details.
Which is better Java IO or Java NIO?
Java IO(Input/Output) is used to perform read and write operations. The java.io package contains all the classes required for input and output operation. Whereas, Java NIO (New IO) was introduced from JDK 4 to implement high-speed IO operations.
Why Java NIO is non blocking?
Java NIO non- blocking mode allows the thread to request writing data to a channel, but not wait for it to be fully written. The thread is allowed to go on and do something else in a mean time.
