What does a live scan check for?
Live scan is an automated service for criminal history background checks that may be required as a condition of employment, licensing, certification, foreign adoptions or VISA/Immigration clearances.
Is a live scan the same as a background check?
This makes Live Scans much more accurate than your traditional background check. Additionally, Live Scans connect directly to your California or Federal criminal history record and can include much more information than a commercial background check, depending on who is requesting the check.
How do I get fingerprinted in WA?
Applicants must pay $34.25 to have the fingerprints checked against the federal database. Applicants must also arrange for and pay the cost of taking the fingerprints. Fingerprints must be taken on the fingerprint card provided by the department. Fingerprint services may be obtained at local law enforcement offices.

The Live Scan Process takes approximately 3-7 days once DOJ/FBI receives your 41-LS form. Out-of-state applicants must complete the FD-258 “hard-Card” manual fingerprint process, which takes approximately 10-12 weeks to complete.

Yes, individuals have the right to request a copy of their own criminal history record maintained by the California DOJ to review for accuracy and completeness. To receive a copy of the record, individuals must have a live scan done and pay $50.00 ($25 rolling fee + $25 DOJ processing fee).

How long does a WA state background check take?
Background checks that do not require BCCU research will be processed with results returned to the requester in BCS within hours. Working days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding state holidays. WSP takes up to two weeks to process resubmitted fingerprints due to poor print quality.
How much are fingerprinting fees in Washington state?

The fee for running checks against state repository databases, if mailed, is $38.00, and if sent electronically is $20.00. The fee for running checks against FBI databases is $13.25.

What does a DOJ background check show?
Nearly all background checks include a criminal-history check, based on information supplied by the candidate, including their Social Security number.
