Can DOD civilians shop at the Marine Corps Exchange?
The Marine Corps Exchange is THE place to shop for Marines and their families. Shopping privileges are also extended to Active Duty and Retired Service Members or a dependent of, and Eligible DOD Civilians.

Can civilians get on MCRD San Diego?
Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. The public may visit the MCRD Museum subject to base access procedures. Gate days and hours of operation are subject to change, especially around holiday weekends.
Can a veteran shop at the MCX?
Authorized veterans can shop the four (AAFES, NEXCOM, MCX and CGX) military exchanges: shopmyexchange.com, mynavyexchange.com and ShopCGX.com. Additionally, veterans can shop across all online exchange offerings regardless of their branch of service.
Can civilians shop at PX?
The Exchange is honored to welcome the 575,000 DoD and Coast Guard civilian employees who can now shop at their local Exchange.
Can veterans visit MCRD San Diego?
Visits are typically limited to recruit Family Days and Marine Corps graduation on Fridays. Eligible groups include JROTC, ROTC, reunion groups, community organizations, veterans organizations, active duty military groups/units, etc.
What can recruits buy at the exchange?
They may need to buy stamps, envelopes, stationery, hygiene products, etc. Recruits WILL NOT be punished by their Drill Instructor/Drill Sergeant/Military Training Instructor for having or using a gift card when they visit the Exchange.
What is H cut in Marine boot camp?
H/CUT – 10: 10th haircut. Weapons De-Issue: Marines return their weapons. Orders/SRB/RLS: Marines are taught about their orders and service record books. Pay Bills (Fe): Instruction on paying bills- female Marines.
Do Marines get their phones during boot camp San Diego?
Recruits are required to make one phone call on the night they arrive at MCRDSD to inform someone of their choice (typically a parent) they have arrived at training safely. However, this call does not always go through and not receiving a call does not mean your recruit has not arrived.
