What is an LED extrusion?
LED extrusions, also referred to as LED profiles, extruded led housings or channels are the base for all KLUS LED fixtures. The extrusions are assembled together with the LED strips and accessories to complete our LED fixtures- this allows us to maximize the applications and uses available for LED light strips.
Why is Aluminium used in LED lights?
Aluminum has a visible light reflectivity of around 80% and can also reflect heat. This together with its low weight makes it a great reflector for our LED light fittings.
Is aluminum an LED?
Aluminum channels are a crucial part of any linear LED fixture. They act as a durable, lightweight housing for LED strip lighting of any color temperature, color, or output. Most importantly they act as the primary source of thermal management for your LED strips.
What is extrusion lighting?
Extrusions are materials that have been formed to produce a specific cross-sectional profile. LED extrusions can be made from metal, such as aluminum, that has been heated and forced through a die to create a specified shape and profile.
Do I need LED diffuser?
LED Lights don’t necessarily need a diffuser. But there’s lots of benefits to using them. Typically, an LED diffuser is ideal for any residential applications where a more finished light fixture is needed. Light strips, for example, have exposed diodes which aren’t too pleasing to look at.
What are LED profiles?
A standard profile designed to be recessed into any surface and give a seamless lighting effect on the desired surface, designed for standard width LED tape with a width of upto 12mm.
Is aluminum a good light reflector?
In addition to being highly recyclable and reusable, aluminum reflects light more efficiently than most other metals without the need for expensive coatings. Aluminum roofs have been found to reflect as much as 95% of sunlight, which is a great boost to a building’s efficiency.
Is aluminium lighter than steel?
Stainless steel is heavier and stronger than aluminum. In fact, aluminum is around 1/3 the weight of steel.
How do you cut aluminum LED channels?
Use a sharp pair of scissors to cut your LED Strip Lights to a proper length that will fit inside the channels including end caps. When cutting your LED strips be sure to always cut down the given cut line between the two pairs of copper pads.
How do you diffuse LED lights?
There really are three main tricks to use to diffuse light of any source, including from LEDs:
- Place a semi-transparent barrier in front of the light.
- Place some thick opaque buffer over the light.
- Increase the distance the light has to travel.
What can be used as a LED diffuser?
4 Ways to Make a Light Diffuser on a Budget
- Use a frosted shower curtain. DIY filmmakers can save money by using a frosted shower curtain to create a soft lighting effect in a scene.
- Use a bedsheet. A semi-transparent white sheet can make an excellent DIY diffuser.
- Use a pillowcase.
- Use parchment paper.
Does LED strip need heatsink?
LED light strips need heat sinks, or channels, to absorb the heat away from them and dissipate it back into the surrounding air. Without this, LED strips can quickly lose optimum performance. The best heat sinks are made from aluminium alloys, and need to match the size of the LED strip.
What are led extrusions?
LED extrusions, commonly known as LED profiles or channels, provide an elegant and convenient means of integrating linear LED strip lights in a protected and concealed rigid aluminum housing.
What are the aluminum extrusions made of?
The aluminum extrusions are made of high quality anodized aluminum and are designed for housing and protecting flexible or rigid LED strip lights. The anodized layer is called aluminum oxide, which is even harder than steel. The thicker the aluminum oxide layer, the more difficult for LED channels to deform, the better quality the aluminum channel.
Why choose Klus led extrusions?
Some extrusions are made to be waterproof (IP 67) and can be used for many different outdoor lighting applications. KLUS is known worldwide as being one of the top innovators of LED extrusions and custom LED fixtures. KLUS holds international patents and continues to produce new products which meet the high expectations of our customers.
What is an extrusion?
Extrusions eliminate the need to for larger, more obtrusive, traditional light fixtures, and can be configured to direct light towards a specific area, and in many different lighting angles. Some extrusions are made to be waterproof (IP 67) and can be used for many different outdoor lighting applications.
