Starcraft is probably a better RTS. People turned Warcraft 3 into far more than an RTS. Also it has a better story and more fun characters. WarCraft III was the first game whose development I followed religiously online. Its campaigns had incredible variety and they pretty much redefined the genre by effectively combining RTS and RPG.
